Welcome to the home page of Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team. The 6th July 1968 saw the first recorded incident and the origins of mountain and cave rescue in Swaledale and Wensleydale. In the following years SMRT has developed from the 12 local people to the team of today comprising around 40 volunteer members capable of reacting at short notice and so providing an invaluable asset to the local community.
